Responsibility

Protecting our environment is an important part of our business philosophy and helps to conserve resources. We operate sustainably and at the highest level of comfort for our guests.

We are constantly working on improvements and review our environmental protection targets in cooperation with ÖKOPROFIT Wiesbaden and with the involvement of our employees.

Ecoprofit project – environmental protection concerns us all
While global discussions on climate change keep politics at bay, we at Hotel Oranien are asking ourselves what we can do personally to protect the environment. That is why we are the first hotel in Wiesbaden to get involved in the “Ökoprofit” project. The aim of the project is to make a contribution to sustainable development together with Wiesbaden’s business community and to promote ecological optimization.

Preserving the scenic and cultural heritage while guaranteeing our guests consistent quality – that is our aim. And it is out of this conviction that we have been dealing with all environmentally relevant issues in our hotel for over a year and are looking for pioneering solutions specifically for the Hotel Oranien.

Heating/hot water
We achieve climate-friendly room temperatures using the latest condensing boiler technology.

Hot water preparation is supported by a solar thermal system on our flat roof, with a collector area of 24 square meters. The solar system enables us to operate the hot water heating system in a 90% climate-neutral way, weather permitting.

The combination of the latest condensing boiler technology with a solar thermal system currently enables us to achieve CO2 savings of almost 40%. This corresponds to around 75 tons less co2 emissions per year for our house compared to conventional heating technology.

Water and waste water
We protect water resources without compromising the comfort of our guests. Rainwater is used to irrigate our hotel garden.

Electricity
We are a partner in the “energreen” project of our local electricity supplier ESWE and not only receive environmentally friendly electricity from Norwegian hydroelectric power plants, but also promote investments in solar, wind and biogas plants in the region.

Purchasing
We value regional products and the best quality from a sustainable production chain. Fair relationships with traders and producers are important to us. If possible, we prefer suppliers from the surrounding area.
We prefer “FairTrade” products such as Café Intencion from J. J. Darboven and tea from Eiles.Mobility for guests
We can provide our guests with electric bicycles on request. Conventional bicycles are also available to explore Wiesbaden and the region.

Partners
In order to continuously achieve our goals, partners support us in quality control and in maintaining an active exchange of ideas on the matter.
For this reason, we have decided to cooperate with ÖKOPROFIT Wiesbaden.

Hotel Team
The idea of environmental protection and sustainability is supported by all employees. A project team checks the implementation of the set targets, which are defined annually. Suggestions for improvement are evaluated and rewarded.
